Welcome Air Cooled Enthusiasts ... ... to the Square Window Registry. This registry went on-line in the Summer of 2002. Its purpose is to record and collect information about Volkswagen Beetle Sedans manufactured for the 1958 model year and beyond. This registry gets its name from the shape of the rear window which was enlarged for the 1958 models. It is a forum for car owners to connect with other owners to learn more about their own square window beetle. Before You Register ... Read This Have you ever wondered about the rarity of a red 1958 beetle? What percentage of beetle sedans manufactured for the 1958 model year were red? What percentage of them were red and had a canvas sunroof? You won't be able to find the answer to that question by going to car shows and looking at the cars! Some of the cars at these shows were not originally manufactured as red cars, or even sunroofs, for that matter. We can determine the answers to these questions with your help. By entering only the original colors and options of your car, you can assist others in finding the answers to these questions. So if your car was black with a white interior before you stripped it down and painted it red and installed a red interior, please list the original colors. If your car was not a stock color when you bought it, and you don't know the original color, just list the color as "unknown". And if you have an extremely original car, please try to provide as much information as possible regarding the colors and options. You'll be helping other registry members around the globe. Does My Car Have To Be Perfect To Enter A Photo? Absolutely not! Most enthusiasts love looking at cars in all stages. Provide a picture of your car, and feel free to update it at a later date. If your car is on saw horses undergoing restoration, then please share a photo with your fellow registry members. If your car is now a wild custom baja, we want to see it. Feel free to share your plans for restoration and any information about the modifications performed on your car so we have a feel for what is happening to square windows everywhere.
